Coaching Skills Training is a one-day workshop that equips managers, HR business partners and L&D business partners with some basic coaching skills.
More and more organisations are relying on line managers to use coaching to develop individuals and manage the performance of others. In addition, HR and L&D business partners are expected to demonstrate coaching capability when supporting business leaders to identify and solve business challenges.
Coaching enables managers to have a different type of conversation, one in which individuals are empowered to come up with the solutions to their own challenges and encouraged to play to their strengths. A coaching approach shifts awareness from ‘the problem’ to the person; their experience and the possibilities open to them. It results in new ways of working, productive meetings and encourages honest and meaningful feedback.
The Coaching Skills Training is informal, informative and inclusive. A mix of proven techniques and activities are included to suit all learning styles. By the end of the day participants will:
- Understand more about coaching and coaching principles and how it differs from mentoring
- Be introduced to a range of coaching skills
- Have had the opportunity to try out some practical coaching techniques
- Develop awareness about their own management behaviours and style
- Feel more confident when using both coaching and mentoring as an approach to develop their people.
Participants will be able to apply coaching skills to help people to recognise their skills and capabilities, unlock potential, increase performance, encourage others to find their own solutions to problems, provide feedback, manage tricky conversations and motivate others
