The Client
Who: Karen
Type of coaching: One-to-one coaching
Length of programme: Six months
The Challenge
This is the second time Karen has undergone a coaching programme with Denise Chilton. Back in 2018, during the first round of coaching, Karen was living in Bangladesh and contemplating some big life changes, including a return to the UK.
She was uncertain about where her current career path was taking her and what she wanted to achieve. Karen sought coaching to help her gain clarity on her future and where she was heading next. She then wanted to work out the “how” as there were some big obstacles that needed to be overcome.
Denise enabled Karen to get clear on what was most important at this stage of her life and then prioritise her goals. Out of that, she was able to create a plan for her mid-term future.
As a result, Karen successfully transitioned back to the UK and found a new role that aligned with her professional goals.
A few years later, following her successful career (and country) transition, Karen returned to Denise for the second time because she felt she was at another crossroads. Having achieved everything she wanted to in her corporate career, she felt a need for more fulfillment.
The Coaching
The starting point for the coaching programme this time was to answer the question “where are you now?”, helping Karen to look at all areas of her life through different lenses.
Karen was encouraged to reflect on how her values were aligned in each area and where she was out of balance. What was missing? What did she want more of? What would a more fulfilled life look like?
Karen found the coaching techniques to be most effective when they enabled her to view situations from different perspectives. It opened up more possibilities and allowed her to be more strategic in her thinking and then take more considered action.
The accountability provided by the coaching helped Karen to stay focused and take action towards her goals.
The Outcome
By the end of the second coaching programme, Karen felt better able to articulate what she felt was her purpose and her vision. She felt most alive when she was supporting and helping others to develop and grow.
Karen decided to pursue a career as a coach herself. She decided to undertake some coaching training so she could position herself as able to take on new work opportunities.
Both of the coaching programmes successfully supported her to navigate significant and transformative life and career changes.
Karen had gained clarity about her purpose and confidence to move forward and execute it.
